Jason Young serves as Monticello’s Manager and Curator of Historic Gardens, responsible for garden operations, grounds maintenance, arboriculture, GIS mapping, and maintenance of the historic plant collection database.
Young discovered his love of gardens and plants as a young boy on his grandparents’ farm. He joined the Monticello team in the winter of 2019.
Young comes to Monticello with experience in both public gardens, Cantigny Park in Wheaton, IL and agricultural research, USDA- Agricultural Research Service. He holds a Master’s degree in Horticulture from Colorado State University, and has co-authored scholarly articles in Frontiers in Plant Science.
